Hi everybody,

In Devil May Cry 4, the player controls both Nero and Dante, and fights enemies in close combat using firearms, swords, and other weapons. The characters Lady and Trish from previous games in the series make appearances, along with new characters Nero, Kyrie, Credo, Gloria, and Agnus.

Here is a preview of how it run using Capture plugin :

For more details, you can go on PlayOnLinux forum HERE

Note :
The following scripts have been updated :
-Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
-Dark Messiah Patch 1.02
-Halo Combat Evolved
-Halo Patch 1.08
-The Witcher
-The Witcher Enhanced Edition
-The Witcher Patch 1.5

Have a good game

 Hi!

This new release of Capture come with only one change: You can now record your software even if it isn't in OpenGL!
To use this new feature a choice is proposed when you start the plugin, after you have to choose what software to record. Recording start automaticly after five seconds. To stop capture press SHIFT+F8.

This is an example:

This plugin is available into Downloads section.

Note:
There is no sound when capturing and you get Theora/Vorbis files, you can add PlayOnLinux logo like OpenGL capture.

By
GNU_Raziel.

 Hi all!

With the opening of the git repository, we have another great news!

You can help the project by translating strings displayed within PlayOnLinux in your language, and you can also review already translated strings.

To translate, you have to go on our translation page: https://translations.launchpad.net/playonlinux.
Note that a Launchpad account is needed.

Then, all your modifications will be imported into the main git repository before each new release.

EDIT: I've changed the name of .po file (what you translate) on the git. So please wait a few moment before translating. We need to wait a sync with launchpad; This one will happen in few hours.
Apologies,
MulX

EDIT #2: fixed you can continue translating

 Hi everybody,

In this game, you’ll still run the show as OSA stud B.J. Blazkowicz, but the mission stakes have been raised a great deal for Wolfenstein. Instead of only plodding along in a boring, normal dimension, Raven has built the storyline and gameplay of Wolfenstein to take part in a parallel dimension—known as the Veil—as well. In terms of the game’s story, the Veil is the key to the Nazis’ ability to make super weapons that would accelerate their bid for world dominance.

For more details, you can go on PlayOnLinux forum HERE

Have a good game

 Hi everybody!!

After more than 300 lines of code, more than 1 week of work, we are happy to announce that you can now make a custom Wine build and allow other members of PlayOnLinux community taking advantage from it.

Why we offer this kind of service?
A least, two reason. This was asked since long time ago and ... even if Wine team improve performance on each new release, for some game/software you have to use a version of Wine which was compiled with some patchs (eg: Command And Conquer 3 Kane Edition was available in PlayOnLinux a long time ago before it was fully supported by Wine. And for this one, we had used a patched wine, but in the past it was really hard to implement this one in POL).

An other nice information is that, every registered user on this site can make demand for free!

So I'm sure that you've now only one question, where I can do my request?
Well, just a second because there is all remaining information on the forum here!

After several months, Alma WADE decided to use our fabulous application. Because PlayOnLinux has now in his repository the script for : F.E.A.R.2 : Project Origin

The game begins 10 minutes before the end of the first episode. You are Mickael BECKETT, a Delta Force operator and you and your team are in Auburn to stop Genevieve ARISTIDE, an easy mission... But, a terrible explosion shaves a part of the city. HI everybody

Today, a new plugin for your favourite software is available. This plugin will allows you to install all PlayOnLinux scripts without internet access !
Indeed, we had worked on numerous solutions for people who don't have internet on their computer. But these solution was partial, they were efficient only for a few scripts

Never the less, Internet access is still needed for downloading wine version

But how does it work ?

For the beginers
You just need to download the plugin here:
http://www.playonlinux.com/script_files/plugins/OfflinePlayOnLinux_0.1.pol
Then, use PlayOnLinux settings menu to install it and configure it in beginers mode
This method is easy, but you will need to have at least an access to the internet to download all our scripts.

For the advanced users
You can run your own PlayOnLinux scripts server
This server can be used for your own computer, or to share scripts through a whole network, without having access to the internet. It works on all python-compatible operating system. I tested it on Linux and Mac OS X

To install PlayOnLinux scripts server, download both of the following files
http://repository.playonlinux.com/PlayOnLinux_Server.tar.gz
http://repository.playonlinux.com/PlayOnLinux_Scripts.tar.gz

The first archive contains the scripts server, the second contains all our script database. It is updated everyday.
You have to extract these file in the same directory

Then, run the server by typing the following command in a terminal

Console:

python PlayOnLinux_Server.py

If all is ok, you should read

Console:

Ready to start the server ! Listening on port 8050

To ensure that the server is well running, browse http://localhost:8050/. The message PlayOnLinux Server is running ! should appear, confirming you that the server is running

The next step is to install Offline PlayOnLinux on all the clients. Use the expert mode. This mod will allow you to specify another adress than the official script server (http://repository.playonlinux.com)

Don't hesitate to contact me if you need help to configure this tool

 Hi everybody,

After being away for month, I'm back and I decided to strike hard for my return. Now, PlayOnLinux has StarCraft II Wings or Liberty script in his repository.

StarCraft II : Wings of Liberty features the first of three fully featured single-player campaigns, kicking things off with the terrans. Humanity's representatives in the Koprulu sector have been through a lot since they first left Earth centuries ago and have adapted to a variety of hardships while subjected to dictatorial rule, zerg invasion, and protoss cleansing. Despite these struggles, they’ve still managed to cultivate heroes, advance their technology, and-- most importantly -- survive.

For further details, go to the forum HERE

Have a good game

PlayOnLinux might have a crash manager integrated to this bug tracker in the future
- No need to re-register if you have an account on PlayOnLinux' website
- Every language are allowed. However, you will get a better support in French or in English

Why do we code our own Bug Tracker
I spent time searching an adapted bug tracker. I wanted it to be integrable to the website (for the scripts, and to allows members to have a single account). Redmine was pretty adapted, but it's coded in ruby, so it is difficult to install on debian, and it needs new apache extensions which take resources
For the moment, the bug tracker is simple, but it might be enough for a start

Access to the bug tracker

 Hi everybody !

Many of you sent me a mail to help translating the website. That is why today, I built a file that contains all translations of the website.
If you want to help us, you can download this file to translate POL website in your language.

But please know that, even if you help translate the website in your tongue, we can not guarantee to open a forum section and a news section.

 Hi everybody !

PlayOnLinux 3.7.3 is now available !

What's new for the users ?
- PlayOnLinux automatically extract icons during the installation process to use them in the main menu.
- A bug corrected preventing user from changing a program icon
- Few translations were corrected
- Definitive correction (we hope) of $PROGRAMFILES variable problem. Script are being rewritten.
- PlayOnLinux is now available in Greek (Thank you kapcom01)

A little bit more technical for the scriptors ...
- POL_LoadVar_PROGRAMFILES was created to assign the name of Program Files directory to $PROGRAMFILES variable. In few case, when the directory was called "Program Files", the following commande returned %ProgramFiles% instead of the real name, and it was the cause of many bugs in all the scrpts.

Code PLAYONLINUX:

wine cmd /c echo "%ProgramFiles%"

- POL_LoadVar_PROGRAMFILES is automatically called on prefix creating. There is no need to use it in the scripts, we just need to erase old lines that cause bugs. To be sure that the scripts will be compatible with the old version, we started to replace

Code PLAYONLINUX:

PROGRAMFILES=`wine cmd /c echo "%ProgramFiles%" |tr -d '\015' | tr -d '\010'`
PROGRAMFILES=${PROGRAMFILES:3}

by :

Code PLAYONLINUX:

PROGRAMFILES="Program Files"
POL_LoadVar_PROGRAMFILES

- When you make a shortcut with POL_SetupWindow_make_shortcut, if the icon argument is empty, POL will try to extract the icon from the exe file and use it.

Enjoy !

Download

PS. To this day, PlayOnLinux has provided you with more than a hundred scripts.
Thanks to PlayOnLinux quite a few people have made their final step towards Linux. Maybe you are among those recent addition to the community.
As you know, Playonlinux allows you to use applications made for windows on the GNU/Linux operating system of your choice for free.

Perhaps you don't know that behind PlayOnLinux are dozens of people giving away their time for free to make sure there is always more material available.

PlayOnLinux is also:
- A team of administrators managing the site, the forum, the script validation and PlayOnLinux itself.
- A team of scriptors writing new scripts every day to enlarge the list of those windows applications you can now use on your GNU/Linux operating systems.
- A team of moderators working (hard) each day to make sure the forum is a nice play to be.
- A team of newsers always looking for informations that could interest you.

As you understand, PlayOnLinux is a bunch of people all working towards one goal: making sure you are satisfied

If you want to support the project, you can go to this page:
http://www.playonlinux.com/donate.html

Thank you for your help.
