POL Helper doesn't even started . You seem to lack some of libraries (application is written in gtk)
Anyway do you've got libgio installed? What is your distribution? Do you use KDE?
Citation de malcom:
I tried adding /home/myusername to /.playonlinux directories in polhelperpath.conf
Is this wrong
Yes this is wrong and don't do that. POL Helper will add these paths for you automatically. Please recover polhelperpath.conf

seems that libgio-2.0.so.0 provided by glib2 2.16 and above
im using opensuse 10.3, glib2 stops at 2.14, 2.16 only for opensuse 11
can get 2.16 for opensuse 10.3 from unofficial rep /joha_ma/openSUSE_10.3
not sure it is stable?

So the problem is you haven't got libgio-2.0.so.0 i use glib2 2.18 and if you would update your glib2 then you probably will be able to start POL Helper.

will change back entries in polh conf file.
glib2 is only available to 2.14 in opensuse 10.3
glib2 is 2.16 or 2.18 in opensuse 11
there is an rpm for libgio-2.0.so.0
can I just install that, would it work, could it cause system problems

I don't know i have never did that, but if there are packages then it means that it works for someone.

Hello chourmovs,
your operating system prevents running plugin because it has got no permission. To solve this problem:
1)go to "~/.PlayOnLinux/plugins/POL Helper/bin" directory
2) right mouse click on POLH file and choose Properties
3) go to permissions tab
4) make sure Allow executing file as program is checked
5) press close
now you should be able to run my plugin

Hi,
I can't seem to install winetricks. And POL Helper tells me (in terminal) that I don't have permission for a directory, but I don't know which one it is.
Here is what it says from when I run POL to when I open POL Helper: http://pastebin.ca/1460364
Edit: Heh. Nevermind, I figured it out. Edited by canuckkat

When I click at "POL Helper" at PlayOnLinux's menu nothing happens..
Oh, never mind, I fix it by giving execute permission to the POLH file! Edited by CheatCat

you have 64bit system installed, and have not installed 32bit gtk libraries
in debian, you should do
aptitude install ia32-libs-gtk
to fix that problem

Hi NSLW
I can't start POL Helper, all the versions complain about a floating point error. Here's the output:
~/.PlayOnLinux//plugins/POL Helper/scripts/menu: line 21: 31414 Floating point exception./POLH
In case it's needed my distro is PCLOS, kernel 2.6.26. Thanks for the help!

Hi Yue,
I hasn't changed POL Helper since very long so this must be problem on your side. Did you try with other distro like Ubuntu live cd?

Greetings!
First of all thanks for writing this script. This has made things easier while using windows software in Linux.
Second, I made an Office 2007 POL Launcher using the script, but when the file name has spaces between, the file won't open. According to the change log of the previous version, the 07-05-2009 version (newest) I'm using should not have problems with it, but when I load a .doc file with spaces between, i.e. /home/user/Documents/docs about things.doc, MS Word seems to try loading "/home/user/Documents/docs", "about" and "things.doc" separately, geting three errors and a blank page.
I have read the FAQ included, and made the correction in the field "command line" by adding "Z:", but still nothing.
Would it work installing the previous version? If it is so, please tell me where can I download it, because the speedyshare link takes me to the newest version.
Please tell me what I can do to solve this problem, having in mind that my Linux skills are pretty much average.
I'm using Ubuntu Netbook Remix Jaunty Jackalope on an Acer Aspire One, and PlayOnLinux v.3.6

It doesn't depend on POL Helper because it only edits/creates script which is written in bash. In FAQ, I wrote, there is only an tip, which i find useful. Probably it can be done better but i don't know bash syntax enough to do that or it may be also not achievable because Wine may have got problems with space char.

Hi,
@rodrigofh:
Can you post the command line like it's in the script ?
Perhaps in a new topic to avoid pollute this topic.
EDIT: (I post to fast and I forget to finish my post)
@NSLW: This plugins seem to be under GPLv3, so can I have the source ?
@NSLW: You can make a .pol without POLSC.
Make a directory named playonlinux and files
Put all file of POLH in into files
Write a simple script named main in the playonlinux directory:
Code PLAYONLINUX: #!/bin/bash if [ "$PLAYONLINUX" = "" ] then exit 0 fi source "\$PLAYONLINUX/lib/sources" POL_SetupWindow_Init "" "" POL_SetupWindow_wait_next_signal "Installing POLHelper ..." "POLH" cp -ar \$SCRIPT_DIRECTORY/POLH $REPERTOIRE/plugin/POLH POL_SetupWindow_detect_exit POL_SetupWindow_Close exit
Compress all of this directory with tar and bzip2.
And you make a .pol (contact me if you want more info) Edited by MulX

You can join the source with the next release (e.g.: make a src folder with the sources).
It's not realy for me, but I have found the license txt file, and no source in archive.
If someone want to check the code currently it's impossible (or hard, request the code, and wait), also if you leave the project (I hope not), without the source it will be impossible to maintain this plugin.
Oops, for the ".pol" my example don't work, because I forget to remove some backslash, indeed this is a part of script that make automaticly the .pol, so some "$" have a "\" for prevent interpretation by the shell ...
So review it and write your own script ;)

You need 32-bits GTK libraries.
