I've been trying to get Shaiya to work, both with POL and without, and  no matter what I do, I run into a brick wall with wine telling me:

Shaiya setup problem - wine: Install Mono for Windows to run .NET 2.0 application

Using the POL provided Shaiya install wizard, I get to the point where it tells me:

Error in POL_Wine
Wine seems to have crashed

And the console is telling me:

wine: Install Mono for Windows to run .NET 2.0 applications.
[POL_Wine] Error: Wine seems to have crashed

I have installed every version of dot net I can get my hands on, and installed mono. No matter what, it always stops with this error.

Anyone know how to get Shaiya to work?

PS I've tried wine 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.6.2, and 3.13.

With wine-3.13 staging, I get this error:

The entry point method could not be loaded due to Could not load file or assembly 'PresentationFramework, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. assembly:PresentationFramework, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35 type:<unknown type> member:<none>

Slackware 14.2 64 bit. 4.4.144 kernel.
nVidia 1060
24GB ram
Ryzen 7

I took the prefix that PlayOnLinux setup and used it to run the Shaiya installer, and it gives me the same error as above, PresentationFramework blah blah.

Update. I installed Shaiya into a VM. I took the install files that downloader downloaded, and used those with the POL Shaiya wizard, and it installed and ran. Conclusions:

1) The downloader that you get from the Shaiya website won't work with wine, with our without POL. I spent bloody hours, and I simply could not get it to work.

2) If you have an installer program and a set of install files (NOT the downloader you get from their website), THEN you can use POL's wizard to install Shaya. It installs, it runs.

So, sorry to spam the board here, but this is what I went through to get Shaiya to run.

CONCLUSION

The POL wizard does not work as-is because it sends you to a download page that no longer works. If you download the installer yourself and have the wizard us that, it won't work (see prevoius posts). The way POL sets up the prefix is such that the installer/downloader from Aeria games site does not run, but I could not figure out any other way to get it to work.

If you have a full installer, you can specify that in the POL wizard, and it works, but I had to install Shaiya in a Windows VM to get those - the average Joe out there will not be able to do this. I have no idea where someone out there could download it from. So I don't have a final solution because I don't know where one could get the install files without first installing Shaiya on a Windows box. If those were downloadable, then this would work

Well, you can get Asiasoft's PlayPark full-installer version (about 1.25 GB at this time) and it will install, and if you have the right components in your virtual drive (like .NET 2.0, DX9 and the VC++ 2005 runtime) the launcher will run and get you all the latest game updates. But when all this is done, the game itself still won't run because of Easy Anti Cheat. According to an active bug report on WineHQ this is EAC's fault for calling an API to find out the WINE version instead of the Windows version and then trying to update itself using a WINE-specific URL that doesn't exist. So EAC fails to update itself properly, fails to run and forbids the game from running as well.
