I noticed there was only the option to install Flash 8 when I downloaded POL for Ubuntu Hardy. Is this a special restriction? Or can we install the latest version of Flash? I would like to use it in Internet Explorer. Thanks.

If you're talking about the development edition, then Flash MX is also aviable. If you're talking about flashplayer, latest version is installed by default with IE7, Firefox 3.6, Google Chrome and Safary in POL.

If you're talking about native linux flashplayer for your webbrowser, use your package manager to install it, not POL.

The problem I'm having with IE7 on POL is I am getting "Your security settings do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer." so I am unable to see the embedded audio players or even the Flash version when I go to the Adobe flash player website:
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

I have adjusted the settings to the lowest level of security and also Custom changes but I still see the warning. It was not like that when I used it on IE7 on another Wine installation, where I just had to make some changes to the medium level of security.

How do I fix this? Should I just enable everything in the Security settings?

IE7 is not fully working with wine, it's just good to test your website if you have not windows. Do not use it as your default webbrowser under GNU/Linux, use native browers like chromium or Firefox.

Yes that is exactly what I'm doing :) I test my website on IE7 because some embedded players do not work in IE even though they work in a browser on Linux. So what I ended up doing was putting it to risky settings at the Adobe flash website so I could install the latest version. Then I put it back to a higher security level (& possibly some custom adjustments to let Active X work more easily) to test my website.

Also, there are sites that I need to access that work only in IE and so I use IE7 on POL for that too.
