I've downloaded installed through POL Team Fortress 2.
I start it and see valve logo, the faucet head logo, then my screen zooms in on my desktop for awhile, then goes black, then reloads and I can hear the team fortress 2 music, but on my second monitor where I'd expect TF2 to be, I see a black rectangle.
Any fixes for this? It consistently happens in that manner every time.

I was playing TF2 via POL few week ago and had no problems, but now, screen turns black after logo, mouse pointer appears and after a while team fortress music plays (there should be game menu screen).

If you put "-nod3d9ex" in the options on the application, this will let you get past your blank screen issue.

Where do I put that? I don't see an options for that application.

Upgrade PlayOnLinux, then you'll have a new "Arguments" field in General tab (Configure window)

How do I upgrade it? I already have the most uptodate version?

ok so I found where to put the -nod3d9ex and it was in the options for the game in steam. I also figured out that it was my graphics driver being set to Xinerama. When I unchecked that and set my multiple desktop up without it. I am now running TF2 Just Fine.
