Controller doesn’t work with MacBook

I have a MBA m4 and I tried to play tomb raider 2013 on it, but for some reason when I connect my Xbox controller to it, it doesn’t work on the game. I also tried with withering waves it also doesn’t work but it worked with combat master. I tried looking for a solution online but I was unable to find one. Keyboard and mouse works on both devices though. Anyone knows how I can fix this?
