Okay so trying the latest version of Wine with War Z, installs fine (now ive sorted the issues in another thread).

The problem now is the login boxes won't take any input for username and password? Any idea how I can begin to debug?

Hmm. Is it running full screen? Maybe try in a virtual desktop or something:

PlayOnLinux -> Configure -> select virtual drive -> Wine tab -> Wine Configuration -> and I think the Graphics tab -> click "run in a virtual desktop". See if the typing works then.

You may also need to try different wine versions, although, Im not sure which one you would start with.

Are you running Ubuntu (and Unity)? I had a program have input issues recently, and it turned out that Unity was the issue.

Emulating a desktop doesn't work, yes I am using Unity (compiz is a pain for everything 3D!).

Maybe I will try another desktop and see if I can get better results hmm..

Yeah. At least give it a shot. I noticed that with Ableton the other day, that when troubleshooting its issues with input, Switching from Unity to Cinnamon cleared it all up.

Weak. I was hoping that was it. I have no idea where to go from here. Hopefully some of the other devs can chime it. Maybe it needs different version of wine or a patched version of wine that has an input patch (There are some that have raw_input in the name. I have no clue if that is what its for).

There already an installer for d3dx9, but I think you mean an install script for this game? You totally should!
