I've played games with wine-ge all my life while using linux and everywhere I see proton is recommended for gaming. I know proton is based on wine itself but what makes it more desirable for gaming on Linux?
I also play games from steam, but even with that games on proton on my device seem to never work. They never execute in the first place. So I've always needed to use wine-ge. Recently, proton decided to work somehow, and as far as I've played, I didn't notice any improvement, nor any degradation in performance.
Btw, I don't have a dedicated GPU and overall, not even a mid-spec pc for that matter, so it would be much appreciated if you base your answers around these parameters. https://1921681254.mx/ https://100001.onl/
It's not like I need to use proton, I'm just curious about what's so good about proton that many people prefer it over wine-ge.
