Alright so rather fresh install of cinnamon flavored Mint with intel's HD 4600 integrated GPU.

wine 1.4.1-0ubuntu7
playonlinux 4.2.1-1

And here's the bit that seems important to me.

I have i965-va-driver  version 1.0.20-2 installed.

Installing steam installed all the stuff I needed. So yay, fixed.
