I downloaded playonmac and have it saved to my desktop and the file name is playonmac_4.2.1.dmg. Everytime I try to open it, it won't, is there some way to install it that I don't know about. This is my first apple computer and I am still very used to microsoft based computers. Any helpful info would be much appreciated.

Well, first off, you need to be more informative than just saying "It just wont work". Does it give an error? does it try to do something? Did you fully download the whole thing? Be more descriptive. You should just be able to open it up, and follow instructions for installation. Read: http://guides.macrumors.com/Installing_Applications_in_Mac_OS_X

Excellent. I FINALLY just got MacOSX running in VirtualBox, so Ill be a little more adept at helping with the Mac side now. :) Im glad that helped. It is a big file compared to the LInux version.
