Hello,

After the successfull installation of "Morrowind" (many thanks for it), I tried to use playonlinux to install "The Settlers III Gold Edition". PlayOnLinux informed me that this is still in testing and that you would like to receive information about the installation progress. The Forums search yielded no hits for this topic, so I created a new entry here.

To put it short: it seems impossible to install the game, because CD1 is mounted and used by playonlinux, while the S3.exe requests CD2.

The long story:

- Creating the virtual drive succeeds.

- I'm asked to select a version of the installation disc. Options are "Retail CD", "Version from CD-Action Polish magazine..." and "Other destination or other CD/DVD". In my case, only the last option is working. I bought the CDROMs from amazon, about 1/4 century ago...

- "Please select the setup file to run". I mount CD1:
sudo mount -ouser=markus,unhide /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom0
and push the search-button. There I select the file S3\Autorun.exe, which is mentioned in autorun.ini. Directly selecting autorun.ini failed.

- I click on "Continue" and the Installation program for the settlers starts. I don't seem to be able to upload screenshots... Then I click on "New installation" and get the message: "The settlers III gold edition cd 2 not found! Please insert the CD and try again". Well, I would, if I could:

 sudo umount /media/cdrom0
umount: /media/cdrom0: target is busy

wineserve 7525          markus   27r      REG                7,0      2398       2115 /media/cdrom0/s3/install/autorun.dat

So, playonlinux prevents mounting CD2. I've been fiddling around with this, but had no success :(

Since this seems to be a general problem, I'm surprised that nobody besides me faces it?

Do you have any suggestions?

As it turns out, it was much simpler to install the Settlers 3 Gold edition with a "normal" wine setup. This helped very much, sorry that it's in German only:
