Steam won't recognise internet connection

Hello.
I followed the guide from here I've tried installing Steam from both the 'most downloaded' section + the .exe from the steam website. But everytime I try and start Steam, it pops up with the error below. 
I can't seem to find anything in either Wine or POL to solve this, so I hope someone in here can help. Anyone got an idea? I'm using Kubuntu 10.04, POL 3.8.3, Wine (I've tried 1.2.1 and 1.3.4). Intel E6300, 6 GB RAM, ATI HD4850 1 GB. Edited by Wrelbyrd |
