GoG-NWN2: is there any way to install it via PoL?

I have the GoG version of NWN 2, but regular wine install runs slowly. I was hoping on getting some benefit out of PoL, but it doesn't have a gog version installer, and the regular NWN2 installer keeps asking for a CD. Any ideas on what to do?

First, hi.
Second, I recently bought the game (for $3.99!) but have not even tried to script it yet, and don't know when I will.
I doubt the installation can be accelerated, it's a huge installation and GOG installers use bzip2 compression, which is relatively slow (and uses a single CPU).

Ok, I wrote an install script for GOG's Neverwinter Nights 2.
It sustained only light testing, and there's nothing fancy, but it seems to work.

Sorry to resurrect an older thread but how do I actually use the script? I clicked it once and it offered me the chance to launch an application... which it didn't. Now when I click on it it does nothing :( Sorry, I'm rather an Ubuntu noob, so any help would be appreciated!

EDIT: apologies, I ticked the "testing" box and now it shows up - thanks for your hard work!

Please read the forum rules for what we actually need to troubleshoot your system, like system specs, linux version, version of PlayOnLinux, version of game used, architecture, and terminal output. This will greatly aide us in figuring out why it didnt work on your system.

Hi, thanks for your help and sorry I didn't give enough information.  I've managed to get the game installed and it generally seems to be working, but I don't have any sound.  When I try to configure WINE I get an error message saying: There is no audio driver currently specified in the registry.  A recommended driver has been selected for you.  You can use this driver or select another driver if available.  You must click Apply for the selection to take effect.

When I try to test the sound in the WINE config area I get the error "Audio test failed!".

My computer specs are:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor 3.40 GHz
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Vengeance Memory
Biostar A880G+ (Motherboard)
Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 ATA 7200rpm SATA
2x BenQ G2220HD LCD TFT 21.5" DVI-D Monitor (1920x1080)
Razer Lachesis (Mouse)

I'm running Fedora 19 and the DE is the latest GNOME (3.8 I think?).  I'm running POL 4.2.1 which I installed by following the instructions found at http://www.hecticgeek.com/2013/01/run-windows-programs-fedora-18-playonlinux/

If you need any more information I'd be happy to provide it.  I'm not sure how to get information about the game via the terminal so if that's needed I'd appreciate a quick how-to (or a link to one) and then I can get back to you.  Thanks for your time and help, it's appreciated!

EDIT: For what it's worth I've just tried NWN2 (the GOG install that's located under "testing") and I have the same issue: it seems that I have full functionality but no sound.

You still didn't give debug output like I asked. Apparently you didn't read all of the rules and stickies. Lol. Read them, please.

Sorry, I didn't see you ask for the debug output.  I'm not actually getting any errors when I load the program, just no sound.  Architecture is 64bit.

Edited to tidy up:

The debug output for NWN 1 & NWN 2 (both Install Scripts and Virtual Drives) can be found by clicking on those links to Google Drive.

Looks like a look of Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition, not Neverwinter Nights 2

For some reason its still using pulse? or is missing something for it?

And your video resolution settings are out of wack. 3840x1080x32 is really wide, like its trying to span 2 monitors.

This looks like a different edition, compared to what the script is for. That may be a problem, as well.

Hi DJYoshaBYD and Petch.  Thank you for your help so far - I'm sorry I keep making a mistake with providing the right information!  I should point out that I'm after help for NWN 1 and 2 although I had forgotten that this thread was just for NWN 2.  It is, however, the same fault for both so hopefully what works for one will work for the other.  Should I create a new thread or can this one be adapted to cover both?  Sorry for the confusion!

I'm not sure why it's using Pulse - I have no idea how to change that, although it seems to be using ALSA, which isn't working?  As I said, I don't get any error messages, just no sound - the games run perfectly in all other respects.

I do have a dual monitor setup - I've configured WINE to run in windowed mode at 1280x720, although it seems not to show that in the log?

Thanks again for bearing with me, I really do appreciate your time and help.

Sorry to bump, I just wondered if anyone had any ideas? I've tried installing NWN 1 & 2 using vanilla WINE and interestingly I get sound but no video...

If your system uses Pulseaudio, try to temporarily disable it, using pasuspender or similar.

Hi Petch, thank you for your suggestion, I think I am using Puleaudio. I've Googled and I can find instructions for pasuspender for WINE but I have no idea how to do that within POL - I'd be grateful for any pointers you can give me.
