Hello, I have a problem with WoT. Game started, i see normally hangar, interface etc. After I starting to the battle, see list of players for a second, and after game crashes with message in debug window:

err:winsock:interface_bind Failed to bind to interface, receiving broadcast packets will not work on socket 01e8.
ImportError: No module named BWAutoImport

My system is x64 Fedora with KDE.32bit MESA installed, version 9.2. s3tc lib installed too.

[fealindar@fealindar ~]$ glxinfo | grep render
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV730

[fealindar@fealindar ~]$ glxinfo | grep gl
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.4
server glx extensions:
client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI
client glx version string: 1.4

full log of debug run, exclude a lot of "fixme" messages:

Just a guess... maybe you need to install Service Pack 3 if you are using Windows XP in Wine configuration.
Normally I just install Internet Explorer 8 and that installs Service Pack 3 for you.

Quote from fealindar

There are two ways to get service pack 3, for me the easiest way is to install a Windows Package with PlayOnLinux that includes it.

  1. Launch PlayOnLinux
  2. Click Configure
  3. Select your WorldofTanks virtual drive (on the left)
  4. Click Install Components Tab
Install any of the following to automatically download and install service pack 3:
  • devenum
  • IE8
  • dsound
  • dxdiag
  • mfc42
Don't install all of them, just one package like dxdiag, then Service Pack 3 should automatically download and install.  If not, try a different one.
If you decide to install IE8, your Wine configuration need to be set as Windows Version:  Windows XP

Are you sure World of Tanks works with Mesa graphics drivers?
What video chipset do you have? AMD, Intel or Nvidia?

This makes a huge difference in performance and errors.

I can see the progress bar befor joining the map .... maybe 10% then the sound stops and then the window closes (the game)

Im not sure yet what my video chipset is ... but it was 128K mem

Those specifications show the NV59C series. Which one of the series do you have?
Thats why they list different CPU's and video chips cause there are different models in the series.

I bet the 66u is the specific model you have.

Best i can find so far on the internet is that it does have an Intel gpu .... which iv still not nailded down yet ... Intel Core i3-370M

So im not sure if my game crash/closeure is due to video incompatibilities or what.

Chances are yes...
Sounds like your laptop is using the embedded video chip in the Intel processor.
But I wanted to know if it also has a Integrated AMD or Nvidia chip so you can bypass Intel...
The drivers for AMD and Nvidia will run much better for games.

There used to be a program under windows that would display those kind of detected items ... i sapsoe there is no equivelent program under Ubuntu ?

Looks like you have the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD (Intel® GMA HD)8 with 128MB
So not totally bad, but Linux drivers aren't Intels highest priority.
I have a Chromebook with Ubuntu on it and an Intel HD graphics 2000 chip.
Doesn't run much, but older games work.

Yeah, just keep checking in on updates and Intel drivers for Linux.
There are some other projects in development that may help....
Yours is a lot newer than my HD 2000 so you should be able to play a lot more games than me.
