i am new in linux so sorry for that question, but can you tell me how to minimize the game or switch to the desktop without closing it?

i am askin for starcraft 2 in mint 17

The best way is to use your multiple desktops in Linux

Most distros will allow you to switch with:  Ctrl+Alt+Arrow Keys

Ctrl+Alt+Right Arrow

 

You can try Alt+Tab like in Windows, but sometimes it causes issues in-game
