I would like to buy the sims 3 for my daughter's birthday, but all our computers run ubuntu 8.04 linux. I have Playonlinux installed and have managed to get MSOffice and Tomb Raider 2 working fine. I'm nervous about purchasing the Sims 3 because I hear it is still quite buggy and I'm a little sketchy on the install and patch thing. I'd like some advice here if possible.

AFAIK the newest patches doesn't work and old patches links has disappeared. I advise you to install patch version 1.2.7
