Installation worked fine, and so did the patching.
But login fails with "Login Error Invalid username/password combination. Please try again."
I'm sure the password is correct -- I login with it in the leagueoflegend site, and it works on windows.
I'm running on Ubuntu 12.10 (quantal), and apparently PlayOnLinux League of Legend picked up Wine 1.5.12-LeagueOfLegends automatically. I tried the version 1.5.18-LeagueOfLegends and I had the same issue.
Searching I saw some mention to the lack of gnutls library. But that doesn't seem to be the case:

Not sure if you've already tried it, but make sure you're region is set correctly on the Launcher screen. This happened to me once.

Duh ... I feel dumb that I was set for the wrong region :)
That fixed it, all working now. Thanks a ton bitwaba!

I installed it and am having the same problems. How did you adjust your region? Nevermind, I am dumb it was right in front of me. >.< Aangepast door fawkz |

what do you mean by "set the region" what is the region??? and do you mean for this code?

There are so many fixes for this issue, but this simple solution is hardly mentioned!
