Bypassing pulse for a particular script

Hey there! I am running Diablo III on PlayOnLinux 4.1.8 on ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit. The game works great - very fast and very stable.

The problem is that when the game is running almost no other sound-related programs work in linux. I realize that this is largely due to pulse but before I start investigating how to remove pulse, I am wondering if there is a way to use pasuspender or something similar in order to have the diablo 3.exe process go directly to ALSA. Thanks!
