With the Release of Star Wars: The Old Republic coming around the corner, If i may of course, Suggest if someone could work on getting EA's Origin to be on linux?
That's a hyped game coming up with (i would imagine of course) not a very hefty requirements.

If someone in the staff buy a game using this software, why not, but I doubt it will work with wine for now, like steam, it will take time to handle Origin with it.

If free demos are available, I will try it.

Hi,

yes you can, we added EA's Origin support but, so far, only Mass Effect 3 is available in origin version because it's the only game we had the occasion to test on it.

And since Origin do nt provide any command-line options to install games (like steam and desura do) it's impossible to make simple support sor it, user MUST add targeted game to it's origin library.

EA's Origin installer in in the Testing Section if you want to try it, but remember, with wine, nearly each game need specific tweak/options/third party softwares so don't expect playing all origin games magically under linux. Like we do with steam/desura, a specific installer need to be done for each game.

Pulling my hair out to install Origin and getting it to run. Managed to install SimCity and The Sims 3 via the DVDs onto regular Wine. Problem is that I have to at least run them the first time with Origin so they can be authenticated and to get updates. Kinda installs with regular Wine (1.7) but when I go to run it, it updates the client and then says that it needs the most current version and that it can't download it. Gives me a URL to get it but said URL comes up as access denied when entered into Firefox. SInce I also had issues installing the Windows version of Steam through regular Wine, I used PoL, Steam works great BTW. Origin did the same issue with PoL. When I try to install it says the current version is already installed, but when I try to run it, it either says access denied (noticed it installs as owned by Root instead of Me and reset folder multiple times to Me owning it rather than Root). Then when I run it it says the same thing about needing the newest version, can't download it, and gives the URL. Again pulling my hair out. Had no issue installing UPlay (through regular Wine though). Any progress on adding UPlay to PoL also?

Check appdb.winehq.org and see what it says about Origin and uplay. POL is just a front end for Wine, so it needs to be able to work correctly through that before it can really be used. You didn't run POL or Wine as root or sudo, did you?
