i used the supported aoe iii install script on  pol 4.2  first time i tried it wouldnt work because i am on linux mint 14 mate 64bit and it couldnt load 32bit wine. so i added the64bit wine and it installed. now i can launch the game but it gives the error that l3codecx.ax is missing i selected ignore and restarted the game. my issue is no sound and when i go to launch a new story game it crashes.

Are you using POL 4.2 or 4.2.1? If not 4.2.1, you should for sure update it.

Im not sure how Mint deals with multi-arch. Since its like Ubuntu, then the following command should give you multiple architecture support:


sudo apt-get install ia32-libs ia32-libs-multiarch multiarch-support
