Hello everybody,

I first installed PlayOnLinux several monaths ago on my Ubuntu-System. Back then everything worked well but when I reinstalled it now an error appeared saying that the python-wxversion module can't be found:

PlayOnLinux v3.8.8

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/playonlinux/python/message.py", line 21, in <module>
import wxversion, os, getopt, sys, urllib, signal
ImportError: No module named wxversion

Überprüfe Erweiterung: Detour...
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/playonlinux/python/mainwindow.py", line 23, in <module>
import wxversion
ImportError: No module named wxversion

I already purged PlayOnLinux and wxversion from my system an reinstalled it. I even copied wxverion.py and all other files from the wx2.8-gtk directory to the PlayOnLinux directory but then an error appeared saying wx2.8 can't be found ...

I'd appreciate if anyone could help me with that problem.

This thread is 4 years old, to the point of mentionning a different major release of PlayOnLinux...

That said, to quote Puppy forums:

"As someone who is into efficiency, the time-wasting associated with Python is unacceptable, and the antithesis of Puppy philosophy.
I am happy for people who have nothing better to do with their time than play with Python."

Good luck running PlayOnLinux on your distro.

true, but it was never answered. and i'm having the same issue. I am using 4.2.7.

ha! That person is saying "Using software you want, to do what you want, is against Linux philosophy". That does not sound accurate to me. The puppy community is large-- no one person's opinion represents the whole community.

Ironically, the thread you linked references wxPython packages, which might be my solution :)  Will report back.

thx!
