Hello :)

I'm new of Linux and Playonlinux. I used to read and modify pdf in windows wit pdfxcahneviewer, I tried to use it with wine but it crashed. So I change to playonlinux and now it seems work right but....

When I try to install the .exe on the virtual drive I cannot, Playonlinux sends me to browse, I choose the .exe and PlayonLinux tells me to wait the installation, then pdfxchange opens and I ca work but nothing more... Nothing is installed on the virtual drive and moreover when I close the program, the next time I haven't the same configuration of the menu bar and all my settings. It seems to me that PlayonLinuz opens pdf without crashing it, but It can't install it on the virtual drive... just open...

How could I do? Please help me, it's very important for my studies

Thanks a lot

Marco

It doesn't look like that one is support for an automatic install. From the looks of it at http://appdb.winehq.org, the 32-bit version installs with no issues, so you would need to create a 32-bit virtual drive with the newest version of Wine (install it from Tools -> Manage Wine Versions), and simply run the installer in that virtual drive (see the documentation section at the top of the screen for details on installs.).

Although, there are a LOT of free, open-source, Linux-native alternatives. Okular comes to mind first. Google for 'pdfxchangeviewer linux alternative' and there are a LOT of them:

http://alternativeto.net/software/pdf-xchange-viewer/?platform=linux

I highly recommend that, if it is "mission-critical", to use a native alternative or run that program on Windows. No point in risking any issues with things that important when there are other solutions that are more bullet-proof. :)
