I recently upgraded to Fedora 28 and wanted to install Warcraft III again, which didn't work. I now made a clean installation of Fedora 28 from scratch and the problem is exactly the same:

When I try to use the installation script, I get to the window where I can chose to install, view the readme, view previews, options, and exit installer. When I click on install, a tiny Wine window called "Programm Error" appears that doesn't have any content in it. It's just a blank gray space. Closing that window also closes the window where I can select the different options. The Playonlinux window says "Error in POL_Wine Wine seems to have crashed".

I tried to make the installation as "Install unlisted programm" which leads to exactly the same issues. I also tried installing Starcraft, also with exactly the same problem.

When I try to simply open the installer with Wine and not using Playonlinux at all, it works without problems.

Any idea what's going on there?

+ I now tried installing Morrowind, which crashes at the start of installation in very much the same way. Nothing seems to work.

Some script use really old wine version. Some of them don't link properly with the system now. You may need to go into the wine version's directory (in ~/.Playonlinux), find and delete libfreetype / libz

That will force them to use your native library, that should fix the issue for now.

Which is the wine version directory?

/home/USER/.PlayOnLinux/wine/ARCH/WINE_VERSION
