I realized that and wrote FAQ for making some features clearer.

You see it's a non-sense

PoL's aim is to do all automatically, not to say to the user "You have to do that and it will work"

I'm just trying to explain you that, not to jokes out of you

Quote from Tinou

Yes it's a non-sense and i understand that installation should be done automatically but before you explained me how to do script to work more automatically i saw no other way (i still see no other way to Register AutoCAD 2005 and AutoCAD 2004 more automatically) and for me it was only solution (i admit: half solution but not quarter)

btw.
You could update script for installing Gecko HTML engine because it has no parts in it to recognize the Wine version which is very important

Good. It would be nice if you could take into consideration united cache and possibility to use it before installing an application like with winecfg.

btw.
Was POL Helper motivation for you to start to code your own version of winetricks?
I remember it was requested long time ago in one of the posts.

Nope. I wanted to ask winetricks dev to integrate POL GUI in their script (with zenity and kdialog) but I do not have any more answer from them.

thanks! finally autocad 2006 that works! (had to tweak your script, tahoma needs to be excluded because it destroys fonts) Is there a way to lock an application on a version of wine after it has been installed?

How are fonts destroyed. Are they too small? Did you enabled anti aliasing? The last thing helps with AutoCAD fonts.

Yes, go here and read point 2 b) . It's described for downloading and changing Wine version for specified application.

i would like to use your scropt for Autocad 2004, but obviously I dont know anything about this Playonlinux stuff and I dont get it to run!

I did what you said; copied the script into a file and afterwards i tried to "start a non official script", but after I chose the file and pressed ok, nothing happend anymore, just like i didnt do anything!

I sure you can help me, i think it must be a very small problem!

Script for AutoCAD 2004 isn't anymore unofficial. You don't have to download anything. Just do Install from POL main menu and then choose Development and then AutoCAD2004. It was lately revised by me so it works for sure.

well on the layer manager window all text is garbage if tahoma is installed by winetricks
i had to manually go into C:\\windows\\fonts and remove all(2) tahoma files, then it worked fine

also there is a problem with the setting of version to 1.1.23
that version breaks icons display, any chance of fixing this?

note: all above is tested with the repo version now that there is one

Could you provide screenshot? I don't know if we do see the same. I don't see change in layers menu when i throw out tahoma.

It's not wine version to blame but corefonts component which stoped installation of gdiplus.
I changed
bash winetricks -q corefonts tahoma gecko gdiplus
to this
bash winetricks -q tahoma gecko gdiplus corefonts
and gdiplus is installed now.

Could you please install AutoCAD 2006 from POL once more time?

Hi!!!

to NSLW: I follow your suggest ad now i write here.

LAYER MANAGEMENT WINDOW:
I follow the suggest of alxarch's post (remove 2 tahoma fonts) and it worked only first time I reopen Autocad...the second the window returns unreadable...
So i think this problem depend only from the font that window uses...any idea?

My layer management window doesn't look like that. It looks normally no matter how many times i run AutoCAD 2008 so it's definitely not tahoma font problem.

This may be your graphic card problem, please post vendor and model of your graphic card (mine is NVIDIA 9xxx).
You may also want to remove every tahoma from my script and see if things are better. If they are then post it here and i'll modify my script so future users won't have such problems.

Quote from Andros1983

There is no difference if msxml6 and mdac 2.7 will be installed by AutoCAD or by winetricks. But there is big difference in case of .NET Framework 2.0. If msxml6 and mdac 2.7 would be installed by winetricks then you'll have to download more date which is not required because this components are on AutoCAD distribution media.

NSLW: just installed again from latest POL in repo. (Acad2006) Problems seem to be solved, layer manager window displays ok and icons are in place.
Still not able to activate though enter activation code but at least now activation window displays fields. (does nothing after hiting next)
Thanks a lot!

seems to work nicely and fast, had a crash on openning a file though, it said it was unable to load modeller.dll
which is strange because i can work on 3d solids without problems. Will investigate further
