Hello everyone, I would like to inform all of you how I managed to install and play the following games using PlayOnLinux

Games involved:
  1. Assassin's Creed II
  2. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
  3. Assassin's Creed Revelations
I bought all the games from ebay and used the DVD's to install the game, later I patched the latest update

Steps for Assssins Creed II:
  1. Clean installation of PlayOnLinux (at least I used a clean one...)
  2. I installed Assassin's Creed II using the following guide found here
http://www.gamersonlinux.com/forum/threads/assassins-creed-2-guide.336/

BUT be carefull not all libraries are installed because some of them require others not listed. In the end I give you a full list of the libraries I used

Steps for Brotherhood and Revelations
  1. Click left where it says "Install a program"
  2. Click down "Install a non-listed program"
  3. Next
  4. Important: Click "Edit or update an existing application"
  5. Select: "Show all virtual drives"
  6. Highlight the visrtual drive you used to install Assassin's Creed II
(This will force the new games to be installed in the same directory and recognised from the already installed Uplay)
  7. Just click next, no extra libraries or new wine
  8. Select the DVD as source and just wait
  9. DONE!
How to patch:
  1. Download the official patch
  2. Follow the steps from above but instead of DVD drive, select the .exe file of the patch
  3. Wait
  4. DONE!
LIBRARIES I USED:
crypt32
d3dx9_24 to d3dx9_40, d3dx9_42, d3dx9_43
dwrite (disabled)
gdiplus
msvcr100
msvcr90
msxml3
wintrust

How I launch the games:
I have an Nvidia card and I use bumblebee
Ctrl+Alt+t
primusrun bash
playonlinux
Select Uplay, Run
Here is a YouTube video in which I run Revelations

Interesting, so you are using the Assassin's Creed II virtual drive to also install Brotherhood and Revelations?
Uplay is happy with this?

I only have Brotherhood and Revelations in Steam, but I wonder if this would help?
I tried running Brotherhood Steam by using all the same instructions as the ACII guide, but still didn't work. Uplay still had some issues.

Booman, I did exactly this, I used the same virtual drive

The full story is this, after playing AC II, I activated the Brotherhood's key in my account. Then Uplay asked to download the game, I refused because I had the CD which is faster. I tried to find a guide for installation (there was none btw) so I wondered if the same virtual drive could work. And it DID!!! I can even use the same desktop shortcut!!!

After installation Uplay recognised the game and I could even play both of them. I am excited, when I finish Revelations I will try the same for AC III. I will come back with an update

I will have to give it a try as well. I only have Brotherhood and Revelations in Steam, but they both still require an installation of Uplay :( lame lame lame!
That is like a double-DRM!

But I'll try installing ACII the way I did in the guide, then I'll try installing Steam in the same virtual drive and launch Brotherhood.

hmmm I don't think that it will work.
If I were you I would do the following:
1. Run Uplay and login normally, if the games are activated that is ok, if the games are not activated (highly unlikely) then
2. Find the keys from Steam, then close steam and try to open Uplay and activate the game with the same key

BUT try my guide follow the instructions I give you, try to login to Uplay directly and install the games from the DVD as described.

Any other done this and worked?
I could provide some screenshots

I really doubt Uplay will honor my Steam keys. So this probably won't work for Steam.
So I might as well try to purchase the Uplay version or retail version.

Yes, post some screenshots... that would be great!

If I were I would do the following
1. Launch Uplay to see if the games are activated in my account
(You can download Uplay in a windows machine just to do this check)
if not then
2. Try Steam keys
Then try to install the games as the guide says

Has any other tryed it?

UPDATE:
I have uploaded a YouTube video showing Assassin's Revelations running from my PC

I have been doing some research and apparently when you install/launch Assassin's Creed Brother in Steam it gives you a key for Uplay.
Then Uplay launches and you can redeem the key.
I'm going to try that and see if I can just use Uplay as you are and skip Steam all together.

Ok, when you launch Brotherhood in Steam, it pops up with a key
Copy the key and then past when Uplay tries to activate the game. Then the game shows up in the Uplay games list.
Now All I have to do is download all 8 Gigs via Uplay and see if it runs.
