Using Safari on ver 3.4 of playonlinux (installed on Ubuntu 8.10 machine)

Had the following error when attempting a connection to online financial site:

Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “https:// (rest omitted) ” because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “www. (rest omitted)”.

I omitted the actual https site when transcribing the error message.

Any help is appreciated.
