I've got questions about Wine versions and would be thankful if someone would response to them :)
How are Wine versions in PlayOnLinux compiled?
What are configurations when running "./configure" "make" etc. ?
Why PlayOnLinux Wine versions are so small sized?

You can see the for each release the log here gopher://mulx.no-ip.biz. It contain several information on how the build is processed. (and take a look here to see health of the server)

Configure is run with 3 options but two are unused by the new configure script. The only option with an effect is --prefix for compiling and installing into an unprivileged user. No other effect except for "make install"

I remove in the installed file a lot of unneeded file (man page) and strip some other.
For the size it's a tar bzip2 package.
