Hello when trying to install Alpha Centaury, the program show the following error message:



What is sox-osx.zip¿¿¿?
The program is installed but the game does not start correctly. Black Screen.

I think to the error message it doesn´t show, is this: Fallo al ubicar playonmac/tmp/alphacentauri_gog/sox-osx.zip

That's a typo (I don't have a Mac to test the scripts under OS/X), I'll fix that this evening and tell when it's done.

Should be fixed.
And to answer your question, sox is a command-line sound effects tool.
The only issues I had while trying to make this game work under Wine are sound related (clipping, loops). I use sox to lower sounds amplitude to avoid clipping issues. Some sounds would start looping over their last 1 or 2s so I excluded them from sox change.
The only sound I've found so far that would loop with or without change is the music behind the initial menus; And since in addition it needs to be played in a loop (but over the whole sound!), I replaced it with 6 copies of itself (around 5 minutes of play time, should be enough to find your way thru the menus I hope) followed by a few seconds of silence.
Yup, making things look and sound good under Wine can get tricky sometimes ;)
Feel free to report any extra sound issue, but I've played this game several hours already without any problem.

Ok now I can install the game without problems, but when I start the game I can hear the sound without problems, but the image is in black.

Since I know next to nothing about Macs, here's some suggestions (with some help from Tinou):
- Right-click on game shortcut then "Configure Wine"
- In "Graphics" tab, try unchecking "Allow the window manager to decorate the windows". If it doesn't work, try enabling "Emulate a virtual desktop" (I think the game only supports up to 1024x768 anyway).
