Slow performance/red screen

I would like to start off by saying I am new to linux, but I'll do my to follow instructions! My problems will be listed further down in the thread. POL: Version 4.0.14

System Specs:

Os: Elementary (Luna) (Pantheon)

RAM: 8Gb (unknown core clock)

Video: Sapphire Radeon HD7770 Ghz Edition

Cpu: Intel 3350 (quad core, 3.1ghz)

Drivers:

AMD Catalyst CC version 2.20 (I chose the fglrx proprietary drivers during my driver update)

I've been searching for solutions, but none have been found. Firstly, Need for Speed runs slowly for me. I installed the game just fine, but when I began playing, my FPS was around 40. On Windows I was running it at 120+ frames. I'm not expecting spectacular performance on video games (not why I switched) but surely there is a way to increase performance?

My second issue is with GTA. When ever I launch the game, my primary monitor turns bright red, and my other monitor (I 2 monitors hooked to the same pc) enters sleep mode. I have to log out to fix my screens.

Here's the log from the terminal, if it helps. pastebin.com/KQF56LcU

How did you install GTA VC or NFS world ??

For Nfsw:

POL > Install > Games > Need for Speed World > Downloaded the installation file > Selected the setup file > Installed normally.

For GTA:

POL > Install > Games > Install a non listed game > selected the installation file from my cd directory > installed normally.

As I said, Nfsw works, I just have low frames. GTA refuses to work.

I have absolutly no expiriance with AMD hardware, and from reading articles I have a fealing that even propritary drivers are not very good. So maybe that is the main reason in NFS frame rate drop ??

About GTA how about change the wine version to the latest one ??

Thanks, Levan! Gta is launching and is playable :D I had no idea my WINE was out of date.

The only thing I need to work on is increasing my performance. I know you're not experienced with AMD drivers, but do you have any suggestions that could lead me in the right direction?

@Kraizer
Not at all.

About wine version, Well this is how it goes every Software you will install from Playonlinux installer will download a different version of wine. Person s who created this installation scripts tested the game on that wine version that will be downloaded automatically. Sure some software might work with a never wine version, Like GTA SA but there is always a chance that it will, and I believe people who created those scripts have life of their own, and they might have no time to check and update the installers.
So I believe it is always a good idea to manually install the software you want.

What I think about performance well what distro are you using ??? wine is a compatibility layer there is no way that you will not lose some performance but I believe losing 80 Fps is a bit more the usual for NFS world.

How about installing more up to date drivers.

I'm using Elementary OS (Luna) which is based on Ubuntu. I installed the latest beta (also tried stable release) of amd drivers. Still no increase in performance. I'll head over to the AMD forums to see if they can help.

Thanks again!
